Liz Lamoste

Detroit MI

Liz Lamoste graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in May 2013 and her admission to the State Bar of Michigan is pending. She graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in Sociology and Political Science in May 2010.

Liz has a strong interest in health policy, and she is currently one of the board members of the Michigan Universal Health Care Access Network (MICHUHCAN). She helped coordinate Medicaid Matters for Michigad in order to advocate for Michigan's participation in Medicaid expansion, and she had op-eds published in The Detroit News and Huffington Post Detroit. After college, she worked for Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME) as a health policy fellow through the Kasier Family Foundation Barbara Jordan Scholars Program.

In law school, Liz was a student attorney with the Community and Economic Development Clinic, where she helped Detroit nonprofits with transactional legal matters and researched cooperative law. She also interned for Michigan Legal Services and the United Community Housing Coalition, where she helped low-income clients deal with foreclosure and landlord-tenant problems.

Liz is a very proud nerd who helped co-found Nerd Nite Ann Arbor and Nerd Nite Detroit, and she is one of Detroit's current co-bosses. Nerd Nite is a monthly social gathering in cities all across the world where local nerds (of all disciplines and backgrounds) talk about their passions while the audience learns along.
