Lizzy Smith

I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in January 2012. While undergoing testing to confirm my disease, my alcoholic spit in my face. I had him removed from the house and it was the last day we lived together. When my diagnosis was confirmed a few days later, I packed up some belonging for my two daughters and me in trash bags and we moved from San Diego to Utah so I could undergo treatment at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. After two tandem stem cell transplants, I am doing well and thriving. I am in the midst of a 2 year maintenance plan and am surviving in my "new normal." Life gets better post divorce and post treatment. I look for the good in this crazy journey and there is much to be found, like peace, new friends, love, and learning to live in the moment.
