Luke James Taylor

Luke has a truly individual sound and a devotion to music which is infectious. Hailing from London Taylor grew up to the backdrop of the British mod, soulboy and punk movements and was immersed in a musical culture that spanned the decades and styles from the newly formed house music and hip hop to rare 60's and 70's funk, soul, jazz and reggae. He started collecting vinyl in the mid eighties and soon built a reputation for musical diversity, always playing music that straddled the genres and never failing to surprise his listeners. Because of his adventurous ear the young Taylor stood out from the rest and found himself regularly in-charge of the music at private parties held on Sir Richard Branson’s (Virgin) houseboat. From there he graduated to playing to colossal crowds at London’s Notting Hill Carnival (Europe’s largest street festival) and had a long term residency in a highly popular bar in one of West London’s liveliest neighbourhoods.

With regular guest spots at other private west London clubs and east London venues, he cut his teeth in one of the most adventurous yet conscientious musical environments in the world. Taylor has also promoted his own parties booking the likes of DJ Matt Cantor from The Freestylers and highly talented session musicians who have worked with Ray Davies lead singer of The Kinks and Van Morrison. Through these ventures he has built a solid relationship with some of the UK's most powerful agents and has access to some of the worlds best DJs, musicians and vocalists from up and coming talent to established chart topping DJs and pop acts. Taylor has recently dj'ed with Krafty Kuts & Dynamite MC, Barry Ashworth from the Dub Pistols and Roni Size. In 2004 Taylor first visited Asia and fell in love with Thailand, since then he has had a residency at Sound Phuket (Bed Supper Club management) where Martin Solvieg, Benny Benassi, Calvin Harris and LTJ Bukem have played. Most recently he had a residency working for the sublime Phuket based resort Serenity Terraces in their beach lounge and on their outrageously luxuriant Lady Anita sailing yacht.
