Hi my name is David Lloyd & welcome to my profile

I believe in cutting crime, keeping taxes low & catching more criminals so that Hertfordshire residents continue to enjoy one of the safest places to live & work in the country

It is the criminal who should be punished not the victim. You should be able to go about your lawful business in Hertfordshire without worrying about becoming victims of crime

I'm a passionate believer in localism & the principle of policing by the people for the people

The role of Commissioner gives you the residents of Hertfordshire a real influence on the style of policing that you want

It is one of the most significant & exciting roles to be developed in our generation because it's the first elected position with a mandate from the whole of Hertfordshire & the first elected position with a mandate to reduce crime

I aim to make Hertfordshire's streets even safer

The next 3 years will be a challenge for police budgets in Hertfordshire. If we continue to hold council tax at the same level, savings of up to £70m out of a budget of £200m need to be found

Willingness to innovate through collaboration & partnering - a focus on back office savings not the front line whilst maintaining services is my key to fiscal balancing

I have the ability & an existing network of people & agencies to bring together the necessary public sector partners – not only Police but Borough, County, Health, Education, Criminal Justice & Probation Services through my long standing public service life in Herts

I will hold them all to account

I'm planning to lead & maintain a presence in the public eye; someone who is willing to engage with you & local media

All skills I've built & demonstrated at Hertfordshire County Hall (Deputy Leader Conservatives) portfolio holder resources & economic well being, previously holding education, adult care & community safety portfolios & Chairman Hertfordshire pension fund

At Herts Police Authority I've reduced budgets whilst improving performance
