I began working as the Milpitas High School Teacher Librarian in 2007. I earned my Masters Degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University in 2004. Prior to working at MHS, I worked as a librarian at Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose and Aragon High School in San Mateo. I began my career as a math teacher in 1985. Seeking a change but wanting to remain connected to students, I moved into my first library position in 2002.
I love the opportunity to work with a cross-section of students over a variety of disciplines. The library gives me the chance to teach a wide variety of subjects and provide students exposure to a world beyond the classroom. I enjoy the challenge of helping students navigate the vast amount of information that exists in our digital world. One of my greatest joys in the library comes from connecting a reluctant reader with a book they can't put down.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, walking and reading. I enjoy traveling to beautiful places where I can appreciate nature. Currently, I am the treasurer for my church and have taught pre-school Sunday School classes in the past.
