"Living Streetwise" - Social Emotional Learning
People skills, called emotional intelligence (EQ), make the difference between success and failure in work and life. Unlike IQ, which changes little after our teenage years, EQ can be learned and developed throughout life. Our comprehensive and innovative EQ program will provide 2 essential tools for our clients:
* Their ability to understand and regulate their emotions and impulses,
* Their ability to motivate themselves, sharpen their empathy and relational skills.
Our "SEL" program’s goal, tailored to the clients needs is designed to provide a solid foundation of life tools to tackle the current challenges (barriers) and obstacles individuals & families are facing and will likely encounter as they move toward sustainable recovery.
These tools are presented through role playing and group discussion as well as other learning strategies designed to maximize involvement and learning.
Our SEL platform design team is in conversations with Marc Brackett, Ph.D., a Research Scientist in the Department of Psychology at Yale University. Mark is also Deputy Director of Yale's Health, Emotion and Behavior Laboratory and Head of the Emotional Intelligence Unit in the Edward Zigler Center in Child Development and Social Policy.
