My Work with Tech
I use my decades of experience in various fields to create the tools that businesses rely on. I have a background in physical security and mechanical systems maintenance that I combine with my traditional IT skillset. This combination of knowledge allows me to create computer-driven processes that control warehouse automation, saving labor costs and reducing errors.
My Journalistic Work
I began writing for newspapers in high school, first for the school's publication and then for a community paper. I graduated college with an English Literature and Television Communications degree. That led me to film distribution through a pioneering DVD company. I later wrote for a weekly newsletter about technology and ran a popular computer advice column called Ask Jacob. I now write for the Montavilla News, first published in 1912 but has since become an online-only news source.
My Self
My wife and our two daughters live in Portland, Oregon. I am active in my community, serving on several boards and advisory groups.
