My Design Philosophy

As a Graphic Designer, I must uphold a certain ethical standard so as to not send false or misleading messages through my designs. I believe it is every designers' responsibility to conduct themselves in this way. If designers were to disregard this philosophy, the profession would fail, and society would suffer. The world must have an overall trust that the designs they view are not trying to deceive them. Losing that trust would devalue our profession, and leave the world without an honest channel of mass communication.

Graphic Design is a tool only the most skilled and talented designers can use effectively on a consistent basis. The power of this tool lies in its ability to reach the masses quickly, and without significant intervention on society's part. I am able to influence many peoples' opinions and viewpoints with my design, so I must be certain my message is clear, concise, and minimizes the risk of misinterpretation by the viewer.

Technology is my most valuable tool as a Graphic Designer. I feel I must continue to explore new technologies and use my creative abilities to utilize them. Continual study of cutting edge technology allows me to visualize new possibilities for my work. I will therefore be able to provide unique designs to my clients. I believe this will give me an edge over designers that become too deeply rooted in routine with their existing skill-set and find it uncomfortable to learn new methods.
