Loida Garcia-Febo is an international librarian, consultant, researcher, speaker and writer. She is passionate about enhancing the education of communities, library users & information professionals.

Garcia-Febo is President of Information New Wave, a not for profit organization seeking to enhance the education of multiethnic populations in the USA and in the Latin America & Caribbean region. She is also an International Library Consultant. She has served communities as a school, academic and special librarian in Puerto Rico, and as a public librarian in Queens.

Garcia-Febo is an Executive Board member of the American Libraries Association, and a Governing Board Member at IFLA. Chairs the Action for Development through Libraries Program from IFLA. She is Co-Chair of REFORMA National Conference VI.

At IFLA, she co-established a global network for new professionals, collaborated developing a Code of Ethics for Librarians and Other Information Workers, developed curricula and provided trainings about Access to Information on the Internet in many regions of the world. Loida coordinates New Librarians Global Connection, a worldwide webinar series for new professionals.

At ALA, she chaired the Committee on Membership Meetings coordinating the first-ever Virtual Town Hall, and subsequent Virtual Membership Meetings for a membership of 55,000+ professionals. Loida Chaired ALA Intellectual Freedom Round Table, ALA International Relations Committee, and Past President of REFORMA where she has led efforts towards National Foundraising, Strategic Planning, Advocacy and Legislation.

Garcia-Febo often speaks about human rights, access to information, advocacy, networking, continuing professional development, and services for diverse populations. She has spoken @ media outlets such as ABC, CNN, NPR, Univision, Telemundo, New York Times and others globally.
