Shame and pride are what usually engulf young teenagers who are born to immigrant parents, into a world that emphasizes multi-cultural dynamics in both positive and negative ways. As a product of the love between a French-born mother and a Vietnamese-born father, I have encountered nearly every attitude imaginable considering my heritage and cultural identity. When asked to describe my background I have given responses such as American, Asian-American, Vietnamese, bi-racial, European, French, and my favorite, Frasian.
