Lonnie Harris

With more than 15 years of hands-on experience in education and leadership, Lonnie Harris currently works as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development at Fayette County Schools (FCS). Before joining FCS in 2010, Dr. Harris worked with public schools in Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee, in various capacities including principal, vice principal, teacher, central office administrator, and counselor. His other previous roles include positions in the government of Shelby County and Associate Professor of Education at Union University.

Licensed by the Tennessee Department of Health’s Division of Health Related Boards as a Professional Counselor, Lonnie Harris belongs to the National Education Association and the Tennessee Education Association.

An avid researcher and writer, Lonnie Harris has published articles in multiple outlets on leadership, teacher absenteeism, and student achievement. Dr. Harris earned the Shelby County Government Mayor’s Certificate of Appreciation twice. He was also listed on The Commercial Appeal’s Who’s Who in the City of Germantown list.
