George (Lord) Byron
Born to Captain John Byron and his wife at the time Catherine Gordon. Mother was a decendant of Cardinal Beaton, and heiress of the Gight estate in Scotland. My father only loved her for her money, which is the reason for why they didn't get along. At 8 I began writing short poems and verses, which I greatly enjoyed. At the age of 10 I enherited the Newstead Abbey, and moved to England with my mother. In 1799 I entered the school of Dr. William Glennie, where I ws frequently taken away from the school for fighting. I enjoyed playing cricket after being sent to Harrow, though I wasn't very good. During my days at Trinity College I spent a lot of time riding, boating, and socializing. There is where i met my protege, John Edleston.
At 14 i wrote poems which were later published in the volume "Fugitive Pieces". I published many other works during my teen and early adult years; this is where the fame began. My writing inspired a lot of people, and I soon became a celebrity in the public eye.
During my early adult years I spent much time with women, but was never able to settle down for good, I think they just liked me for my fame and fortune, not my personality. So girl after girl I just kept searching for the right one. My love life was a travesty, I guess you could blame it on my mother, she gave me no reason to respect women.
In my final years I was invited and went out to fight in the Greek War of Independence along side the Ottoman Empire it was there I contracted several diseases and after a slight recovery, persihed. In the eye of Greece I was seen as a hero, winning many famous battles. If i had of survived, many said I would have been made King of Greece.
Interesting Facts: I was the first modern-style celebrity, I spent $7,000 of my own money to help outfit the Greek army with weapons, etc., and I was refused by the clergy to be buried due to my high stature, and remain in the family vault in Winstead.
