Lorenzo Guggenheim is a young conductor and musicstudent born in 1990, graduated with Honors from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina as Licensed in Orchestral Conducting in 2014 where hestudied with Maestri Carlos Vieu and Lucía Zicos.
His professional debut came in 2012 conducting theSymphony Orchestra of the Catholic University of Argentina and since thenconducted in some of the most important theatres in Buenos Aires. In 2014conducted in the renowned Teatro Colón with the Academic Orchestra of itsInstitute for the Arts as part of the “Intérpretes Argentinos” Series. In thesame year he performed as a guest conductor for the Compañia Oblicua, a leadingensemble dedicated to contemporary music, with “Histoire du Soldat”(Stravinsky) at Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires.
During the last semester of 2014 he traveled to theUnited States to continue his studies in the University of Washington (Seattle)where he studied Choral Conducting with Dr. Giselle Wyers and Opera Conductingwith Dr. David Rahbee and Tom Harper. He worked in University of Washington’sproduction of “Gianni Schicchi” (Puccini) as a diction coach and supertitletechnician at the Meany Hall in December 2014.
In the lapse of one year he was selected as activestudents in several conducting courses in Argentina including GuillermoScarabino’s with Teatro Colon’s Academic Orchestra, Jorge Rotter’s with an adhoc orchestra in Tucumán, Luis Gorelik’s with the Symphonic Orchestra of EntreRíos, Ricardo Hegman’s with the New Music International Festival Orchestra andSantiago Santero’s with the National University for the Arts Modern Ensemble.He was, as well, selected to conduct in the final presentation of the coursestaught by Scarabino in the Teatro Colón, Rotter in the Economic Federation ofTucumán and Hegman in El Aleph Auditorium in the Cultural Center of Recoleta.
He wrote a book about Argentine composer MartaLambertini’s opera “¡Cenicientaaa..!” co-authored by Dr. Javier Gonzalez and arefereed article in the XXVIII Magazine of the Institute of MusicologyInvestigation “Carlos Vega” about “Humpty Dumpty” by Marta Lambertini, bothpublished in 2014 by EDUCA.
