Independent Journalist, Writer, Editor, Researcher in Brooklyn, New York
Loretta Chin is the CUNY FORUM 2015 editorial assistant and coordinator of the CUNY Asian American Leadership Initiative at the Asian American and Asian Research Institute of The City University of New York (AAARI). She is a former founding board member of AAARI and contributing writer to the AAARI newsletter.
She also works at the Brooklyn College Children & Youth Studies Program and the Children's Studies Center for Research, Policy and Public Service. She is the managing editor of eight publications, manages the websites and Facebook page of the program and center, and has most recently co-authored "The History of the Children's Studies Program and Center."
As an independent journalist, she has numerous articles under her name published in the Canarsie Courier.
She was a writer and former news editor of the Brooklyn College Excelsior Student Newspaper, news correspondent for the Sex and Politics Radio show on WBCR radio 1090am and a reporter for the Brooklyn News Service. She manages a Facebook group for Brooklyn College journalism alumni.
She interned as a research assistant to investigative reporter Wayne Barrett at Newsweek/The Daily Beast and The Nation Institute in summer 2012 where she covered the presidential election. As a result, she received credits at the end of five articles published in The Nation, The Daily Beast, Mother Jones, and AlterNet.
