Lori A. May is the author of several books, including The Write Crowd: Literary Citizenship & the Writing Life (Bloomsbury), which was named a “best book for writers” by Poets & Writers magazine and was nominated for a Michigan Notable Book Award. Other books include The Low-Residency MFA Handbook: A Guide for Prospective Creative Writing Students (Continuum) and Square Feet(Accents).

She writes across the genres and her work may be found in publications including The Atlantic, Brevity, Midwestern Gothic, and Writer’s Digest. Her travel writing portfolio includes Afar, Cruise Critic, Eater, Houston Chronicle, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Time Out, TripSavvy, and others. As a freelance editor and publishing consultant, Lori has worked with Creative Nonfiction, Kaylie Jones Books (an Akashic Books imprint), University of Alberta Press, River & South Review, among other presses and journals.

Lori is currently finessing American Drive, a travel memoir, and Salt & Bone, a collection of essays. She teaches in the Creative Nonfiction MFA program at The University of King’s College-Halifax, Nova Scotia.
