Welcome to my About Me Page! My name is Lori Perez and I am grateful to share my art with you. A little about me. My parents are originally from the beautiful island of Guam. I love reading, gardening, writing music, playing piano, nature, spending time with my family and friends, painting, photography, and a lot of quiet time. I also love learning. There's a lot more out there for me to learn. I feel like I've only just begun and with every day that passes, it seems I find more and more that I am a novice at just about everything but it keeps things interesting.

I taught for almost 10 years in the public and private school systems in both primary and secondary levels. My favorite subjects teaching were world history and world literature.

My faith is the most important thing in my life. It is through my faith that I find inspiration for everything that I create and live for. It is through faith that I find meaning, purpose, beauty and order despite the storms of life and things I do not understand. I am currently fighting breast cancer and I know even this will make me stronger and serve to make life even more precious to me.

I believe all people have dignity and value and that hope for change for a better world starts within ourselves first, always. As Ghandi says, "Be the change you want to see." One of the biggest goals in life for me is to live for others and less for myself. The more that happens, the more I believe I will secretly shine like stars in the night sky. It is then that I feel the most peace, most human, alive and beautiful. I also believe that LOVE should transcend all the differences we have. Life is such a sacred gift and in the end, love will triumph. Love is the face of our souls and it holds all things together!

UPDATE: As of December 2014, I have been in full remission! No trace of cancer whatsoever after being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. It's a miracle I'm healed completely. I am so grateful and happy to be alive and well. So grateful to be here sharing. I wish you peace, joy and nothing but the best. XOXOXOXO
