Inquriy is defined as: 1. a seeking or request for truth, information, or knowledge. 2. an investigation 3. the act of inquiring or of seeking information by questioning; interrogation. 4. a question; query.

My name is Lori Roy, and I have been given the distinct honor to lead a NC K-8 Public Charter School, the Cape Fear Center for Inquiry, in Wilmington, NC. At CFCI we teach our students how to become inquirers by taking advantage of their natural and innate curiosity. We give them just enough to be able to take the reigns on their educational interest and begin researching, investigating and asking their own questions.

I am and always will be a teacher at heart. I believe the strongest school leaders are instructional leaders. I taught in Brunswick County at Leland Middle School and South Brunswick Middle School for my first 5 years. I spent my next three and half years as the Curriculum Coordinator at CFCI before stepping in the role of Director.

During my personal time, I enjoy hanging out on the beach, reading a good book, hiking and vacationing with my husband and two dogs and just living life to the fullest.

"Character is higher than intellect... A great soul will be strong to live, as well as to think." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
