Safely returned from three months of solo train travel through Europe over summer 2015, the book, Facing Forwards, is now available from facingforwards.com, some branches of Waterstones and Amazon.

Part travelogue, part personal journey, part but in an amusing way... Think Bill Bryson with boobs and a mid-life crisis.

Since 1985, I've worked in magazines, newspapers, digital, radio, and a little television. I took the opportunity to learn from the ground up and joined DC Thomson, one of the UK's leading publishing houses, straight from school. This was the heady world of heartthrobs, pin-ups and problem pages in iconic teenage magazines such as Jackie.

In the intervening 30 years, I've worked with Express Newspapers and IPC Magazines in London, The Herald newspaper in Glasgow, and my most recent jobs as magazine editor took me from the competitive world of children's publshing with Animals & You to The Scots Magazine, the world's oldest magazine.

My first book, Take it to the Bridge, was a labour of love charting the story of Dundee's contribution to the world of contemporary music. It was published in 2011.
