Lory Beat Studio

hla! I’m Lory, a multidisciplinary Chilean illustrator and artist living in the beautiful medieval city of Ely, Cambridgeshire.

I’m passionate about colour! 🌈🍉 Perhaps that’s the Latin American in me. My work is all about bringing happiness, energy and a little bit of sunshine into everyday life. My aim is simple: to make you smile!

I was delighted to be one of the winners of the Strawberry Field Liverpool Christmas Card Design Competition, in 2023.

More recently, I illustrated the “Ely Travel by Train” poster, celebrating Ely and its beautiful surroundings from the perspective of a train journey. The poster is displayed across the Greater Anglia train network.

I am also the illustrator of Tanya Saunders’ children’s book, Mr Mellow Likes Yellow, which is now available through Amazon and libraries.

As a local artist, I regularly trade at Ely Market and have exhibited at Art Unequalled at The Maltings, Ely. My postcards celebrating the beautiful city of Ely are available at Oliver Cromwell’s House Tourist Information Centre, Cambridge Tourist Information, as well as directly from me.

My creative life is wonderfully varied. I have a degree in journalism and spent many years working for magazines in Chile. Today, alongside my art, I work as a tour guide in Ely and at Oliver Cromwell’s House, teach Spanish, and occasionally practise silversmithing and jewellery making. I’m also a proud mother of two talented musicians.

My illustrations have been featured in newspapers as far away as Hong Kong, and my work has appeared on the front cover of the Visit Ely Tourist Information Visitor Guide in both 2021 and 2025.

My artwork can also be found at the Brontë Sister Birthplace Museum in Thornton, Yorkshire.

Whether I’m painting Ely, creating illustrations for children, designing postcards or experimenting with new creative ideas, I love bringing colour and joy to everything I do.

Thank you for visiting my colourful little world! 🌈
