Hello I am Louis Belyea, and thank you for looking over my page. I am a storyteller and I have been my entire life. I love a good story. I grew up riveted by the stories of The Depression, The Great War, and the fifties and sixties. I remember clearly the importance of the details to those that told them to me. The one that sticks in my mind the most was a story my Aunt used to tell me. She shared with me a story of a time when she received a gift of day old bread by a local baker when she was starving during the Great Depression. It was dry, but to her the bread was amazing, and in her eyes she went back to that moment as she told it. The bread was carefully cut and served with the only things available; a little mustard and butter, a strange dish that she confessed to still eating from time to time. That one meal was so important it lived with her for the rest of her life because it taught her about gratitude and faith in humanity. Her gratitude was still fresh in her eyes 50 years later. I was six or seven when she told me that story, about the same age my Aunt was when she was given the bread, and those details are as clear in my mind as the bread was in hers.

My primary focus is on stories that take place in Oklahoma and the surrounding area. I love this part of America and I like my work to show the world how I see my home. My undergraduate degree is a BFA in Creative writing and my Masters is in Journalism. There are a lot of different ways to tell a story and my passion is in telling the story.

In addition to my degrees, I have certifications in Photography, Office, Writing and Publication tools. I also have certifications in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for working with digital images.
