Louise is a FOLK artist and photographer, She paints on tin, canvass and Masonite board using gouache and acrylic . Louise was born in Oakland , California , and her favorite subject of portraiture was inherited from her Grandfather , Walter Frank Whipple 1877-1936, who was a stage and screen star who taught Lon Chaney how to mix and apply make up.

Louise grew up in the Mexican -American community of Decoto, California, now Union City in Fremont. She married into a Mexican family who had come from Southern Mexico. All this influenced the subject matter of her art. She is inspired to paint the scenes of Mexican life, men and woman and children in profile using the classical bright and rich colors of Mexico.

Gouache is similar to water color which is transparent while gouache is opaque. It is a very old medium and dates back to the 14th century.

Louise has participated in art shows and won awards in the United States. She now resides in Mexico. She has paintings on display at Tangos, Ajijic in conjunction with the ART HOUSE in Chapala (which makes prints of her paintings). She has prints and original paintings on display at Fridas in Jocotepec, she has had shows at Sol Mexico and various other art venues --You may visit Louise's gallery at #24 San Juan de las Colinas in Ajijic by appointment---her email is [email protected] or she can be messaged on Facebook--Louise neal-pedroza, artist--this is her website where you can purchase prints, originals, or art gifts
