Louise Linehan
I am studying a Media Practice undergraduate degree at The University of Sussex and currently work at Sainsbury's as a checkout assistant, as a Student Ambassador at my University and am gaining experience as part of the Resarch and Development team in Back2Back Productions (a TV Production company) I am particularly interested in written media but would like to experience many different aspects of the industry. In my spare time I help out at UniTV, where I produce, market and distribute short video's, primarlily for the University audience, but also to a proliferating external audience.

I have studied Media from GCSE level and chose A-level subjects that I believed would translate well into a Media based degree. I studied Business, English Language and Media; all of which converged regularly. For example, in Business I was required to study and understand the importance of marketing and advertising in generating an interest in goods and services and, thus, generating a profit. Following on from this, in Media Studies, I would disect advertisements, in terms of their production, distribution and reception, in order to learn how to appeal to a particular market/demographic, effectively. Finally, in English Language, I learned of the importance of Semantics and the use of linguistic devices, when attempting to infulence the market/audience.
Here is an example of a magazine and music video that I was required to produce during my A-levels:
