Radiologist Louis Teresi’s professional life has included acting as a physician, teacher, and researcher. He has possessed many medical licenses and certifications, served on countless committees, and taken part in a host of professional organizations. A winner of numerous awards and accolades, Dr. Louis Teresi has been recognized by some of the profession’s most prestigious institutions.
Dr. Louis Teresi began distinguishing himself with honors and awards as far back 1978, when he attended Harvard University and won the John Harvard Award and Scholarship for outstanding academic achievement. In 1980, he was invited to join The Phi Beta Kappa Society, which serves today as a premier academic honor society. In 1980, he completed his Bachelor’s degree at Harvard and graduated magna cum laude with the highest honors in his major, biology. Five years after graduating with his Bachelor’s degree, Dr. Louis Teresi won the Silberstein Radiological Research Foundation Award Stipend for a project involving medical images of the head and neck using magnetic resonance imaging. In 1986, in recognition of his outstanding work in the field of radiology research, he was awarded the Certificate of Merit three times from the James T. Case Foundation and the UCLA Medical Center’s Department of Radiology. That same year, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery gave Dr. Louis Teresi an award for his scientific exhibit, “Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Facial Nerve.” His 1988 paper, “MRI of Experimental Demyelination,” garnered him the Executive Council Award from the American Roentgen Ray Society, describing the reason behind the appearance of MS plaques on MR images. and in 1993 he received a cum laude recognition from the organization for his paper entitled “Bone Contusions of the Knee: Increased Lesion Detection with Fast Spin-echo MR Imaging with Spectroscopic Fat Saturation.” In 2002, 2003, and 2007, Consumers’ Research Council of America named Dr. Louis Teresi among America’s Top Radiologists in Neuroradiology.
Presently, Dr. Louis Teresi serves as Medical Director, Southern California, and MRI Research Director for SimonMed Imaging.
