Louis Zinterhofer

After growing up in Midland, Texas, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer moved to South Bend, Indiana, where he attended the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Louis Zinterhofer graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1963 and subsequently pursued his medical degree at the Tulane University School of Medicine. In addition to his education at Tulane, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer completed internships, externships, and residencies at the Aerospace Medicine Branch of NASA, Ochsner Foundation Hospital Center, Yale-New Haven Hospital, and the University of California University Hospital. Following his post-graduate training, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer served in the Medical Corps of the United States Air Force at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology from 1971 to 1973. In his final year of service, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer was awarded the Certificate of Meritorious Service. While working in the military, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer earned board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology.

Since 1973, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer has practiced as a pathologist at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. Originally hired as an Associate Pathologist, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer was granted board certification in nuclear medicine and chemical pathology in his first two years with the hospital. Dr. Louis Zinterhofer took on a series of increasingly challenging roles at the hospital before accepting his current position as Chairman of the department in 1989. For his ongoing commitment to the facility, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer received the Physician Leadership Award in 2006 and earned the Board of Trustees Special Recognition Award in 2003.

During his time with the Monmouth Medical Center, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer has maintained hospital appointments at other medical facilities in the region. Throughout his career, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer has served on several of Monmouth's boards and committees, including the Medical Policy Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and Institutional Research Review Board. Currently, Dr. Louis Zinterhofer is the President of The New Jersey Society of Pathologists and the Chairman for the New Jersey representatives in the House of Delegates of the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Louis Zinterhofer has been published in many prominent medical journals.
