“I come across as quiet to people who don’t know me,” LOVE Allmon will say if you ask her to describe herself. The singer, whose contralto is a mix of old-school soul and new-school spirit will also say she is creative, organized and driven. But her true calling is to spread love to anyone who needs direction, inspiration or encouragement. Born in Laurel, Miss., LOVE was reared in Baton Rouge, La. – the second youngest of 12 siblings. The daughter of a pastor, LOVE began singing in her father’s church as a child. After winning a church talent show, LOVE knew singing was her penchant. “I’ve been singing since I was a baby, but I truly decided to sing at age nine.” While LOVE has opened for contemporary gospel acts, the legendary Twinkie Clark inspires her. For LOVE, Twinkie Clark is the epitome of a true artist. Why? Because she can sing, write and play “effortlessly,” LOVE says. While Clark musically inspires her, her parents serve as her greatest personal inspirations. She describes her mother, Lois Ann Allmon, as a “strong, loving, woman of God” who is “full of life.” Her father, the late Bishop Richard V. Allmon, Sr. of the Full Gospel United Pentecostal Church serves as the muse for her work. She says, “I hope my music is like my Dad; his nickname should have been ‘Love’ (because) he knew what it was all about.” This emerging artist is on the path to greatness. While LOVE Allmon has many layers, ultimately, she wants to realize her full potential. She says, “I’m a teachable artist. I don’t know everything as a singer, but I’m forever changing, forever learning.”
