Lovie G. Matthews
Hello my name is Lovie Matthews. I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I graduated from Ridgeway High School and attended college for one year at Christian Brothers University. I moved to Charlotte, NC four years ago and now attend North Carolina Central University. I am double majoring in Chemistry and Spanish because Chemistry is a central part of all science and Spanish has an influential presence in the world and the U.S.
While here at NCCU, I have accomplished much because change is made by doing. I am currently preparing to do research on skin products and health. I held the position as treasurer of NCCU's Golden Key International Honor Society and am a member of Tau Sigma National Honor Society. I was also a University Honors Program student and a Career Eagle Officer in NCCU's Career Services. I am using the skills I have gained to foster an appreciation for differences and wellness.
An appreciation for differences are what lead me to study abroad in Costa, Rica. While I was there I learned to appreciate the simple things in life and what it means to live well. I plan to continue my journey abroad by going to the Olympics in Brazil.
My interest in becoming a doctor derived from finding a career that would match my intelligence, creativity and a passion for helping others. Having a wellness center has been a dream that will become a reality. The center, Katherine's, mission will be to advocate for all stages of wellness and its usefulness as a force for change. I believe that the source of change starts from within and radiates outward. This is why I decided to change my actions, nutritionally and subconsciously. This allowed me to become more aware of my health and the health of my family. I helped them to collectively lose more than 50 pounds. Besides these goals, I have other important hobbies as well.
I like to draw, exercise, cultivate my interest in nutrition by expanding my relevant knowledge, play sudoku and card games. The inspiration that I get from my hobbies drives me to find quotes that promote change, greatness, success, wellness and helping others.
