Silvio Sverko

Thinking of my biography I could name many dates and places, that were of some importance for my life but I consider this approach being boring and meaningless.

If I'd like to know something about a person it is his or her thoughts, beliefs, attitude, hopes and dreams. So this ist the point I would like to start.

First of all, I am very happy to be here. On the planet I mean. I take a great pleasure and delight in living, not because of the fact that my life would be any kind of glorious, but for the reason it is an more than unbelievable chance to have the opportunity to live and to think and be a part of existence.

Despite of the fact, that life thought me better, I also like people. It is not the manifestation in the single beings who unfortunately often tend to be between difficult and unbearable, but it is rather the great capabilities that lie in the most of us. For every example of greed, hatred and violence there is also a counterexample of generosity, love and compassion. Also our capability to change our environment to our needs is frightens and fascinates me at the same time.

Throughout history the socially structures of mankind have evolved from clans and tribes to states and nations and right at present we are witnessing new aggregations that have just begun to overcome the narrow limits of national borders. For me, one of the most fascinating new social structures is resident in the the Internet and ist called "the community". It is one of my big hopes that during my lifetime I will witness that all mankind will grow together following that bright example and be relieved of the insane and limiting borders which separate us now. I hope that the new technology will give us the proper means to establish a self-governed world community which is not based on weapons, power and oppression but on reason and insight.

The challenges that lie in front of us have never been bigger, as so many things could go astray, but the reward also has never been greater. I'd like to connect to all those people who take a delight in improving the world and am interested in any ideas and visions that will enable us to do better than we already do.
