One thing about me is that I absolutely love watching movies and spend more time than I am proud of watching any and all kinds of movies. I have always loved watching movies but gained a deeper appreciation for them when I took film in high school. Film made me realize the amount of work that is put into making movies and the detail and intentionality that is within them. In class we not only had to analyze and write about films but also make short films ourselves which was so much fun but actually took a lot of work and time. The thing that really made me realize the detail and intentionally put in by all departments of a film was when I had to write a 4000 word deep dive essay comparing the directors intentions in the movies Whiplash and LaLa Land both directed by Damien Chazelle. Having to analyze these movies so deeply has now led me to do the same in every film I watch, and now I’m not just watching the plot, I'm watching the cinematography, the lighting, the sound design, and so much more. I also now have a broader taste in film and enjoy movies throughout all genres and have grown to enjoy more artistic and cinematic movies in addition to the comedy and blockbuster movies that I enjoyed before. However, no film class or highly acclaimed, academy award winning film will ever be able to change my mind that Pitch Perfect is the greatest movie of all time.
