I see a flash of red and green, a photo of my friend in the corner, and the familiar ring of a facetime call. Without hesitation I press accept and I am greeted with a joyful, smiling face that immediately blurts out “Bello!”, We both scream hello in the Minionese language that originated from the popular Despicable Me movies.

The daily facetimes with my hometown best friend is the element of my life that remains constant in the craziness that continues to be college life. The conversations that are brought up can range from stories from our respective colleges to name-dropping people that we hate while eating at the dining hall. The talks that we have not only allow us to stay connected on a more personal level, but it facilitates an interesting dynamic of meeting new people purely through the video on our phones.

The conversation then transitions to our complaints about our near failing grades in our introductory biology classes while finishing off with talking about the job prospects of a certain profession that involves dancing. The more that I learn about them, the more I think about how much of an impact you can have on someone's life. The video calls usually come to an end whenever one of us (mostly me) falls asleep as the other person is talking.
