Someone once told me that people in the PR/AD industry should wake up two hours early to read the news every day. Clearly this person never had to ride the CTA to work or school because I find plenty of time to catch up on the latest industry buzz without waking up at three AM. Regardless of when a person consumes media, I think one of the biggest mistakes that PR majors make is not reading the trades, news sites and notable blogs. They don’t say public relations is a 24/7 job to sound impressive – every day the industry is evolving and learning how to better communicate with the public.
And to me, that is the most exciting part.
