Doctors have also insisted in a report published this week not only on what type of masks should be used in each case but where they should be worn in a highly recommendable way.

The FFP2, FFP3, N95 (always without valve) self-filtering masks will be available to healthcare professionals according to the following:

FFP2 masks without valve will be used in patients with confirmed or suspected Covid-19, in consultations, home care, hospitalization, transport, emergencies, surgery and other procedures and interventions. Vital emergencies will always be treated as if they were Covid-19 positive cases. Also in hospital and community pharmacy with high transmission of the disease, in laboratories for the most exposed personnel, or in cleaning and maintenance tasks in areas where drops or aerosols may have been emitted.

FFP3 masks should be used in interventions and procedures where aerosols may have been produced by Covid-19 or suspected patients.

Surgical masks shall be used in the care of patients on the NO-Covid-19 circuit.
