United States

Knowing how to accurately portray characters using another author’s words as a solid blueprint, Luc Brebion, Ph. D. has been able to establish himself as a much-sought after translator who is capable of creating his own magnum opuses. A native of France, Dr. Brebion considers the United States as an incomparable second home country, where he has successfully completed his doctorate degree in psychology and where he now resides. In a concrete tribute to the language that he has come to love as a second one for himself, Luc Brebion, working in cooperation with American writer and journalist Timothy Crouse, produced the numerously-lauded translation of Roger Martin du Gard’s Le Lieutenant-Colonel de Maumort. Originally published in France by Éditions Gallimard, one of the leading Frenchpublishers of books and acknowledged as having "the bestbacklist in the world”, Le Lieutenant -Colonel de Maumortrightfully belongs to the Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, aFrench series of books which was created in the 1930s byJacques Schiffrin, an independent young editor. The original French version by Martin du Gard, therefore, is a critical edition, complete with annotations, comments, manuscript and editorial variants and accompanying documents. It has been considered one of Martin du Gard’s finest works, and Dr. Luc Brebion’s work on it, completed in collaboration with Timothy Crouse, has been lauded to be an excellent translation that has merited documented praise from all
