My current research focuses on the intersection between learning environments, communication technologies, and social change.

I investigate all kinds of learning environments: formal and non-formal, physical, virtual, and hybrid. I am particularly interested in the spaces between universities and their local communities.

I study the day-to-day communication practices that constitute learning environments as well as the technologies (both front and back end) that mediate them.

I assume a very close connection between learning, technology, and community. Changes in learning practices and technologies excite me because of the potential they hold for social change.
