Lucky TheDog
My name is Tommy. I found Lucky while studying screenwriting in Brazil. He has three legs and unfortunately epilepsy as well. The story of how I found him is interesting but long. I have a limited amount of space to write about it so here are the basics. His Facebook page has the all the details if you want to check it out. There is a link at the bottom of this page to Lucky's Facebook profile. I've also included a link to his youtube channel.
For me the most important thing is that Lucky now is happy, healthy, well-fed and looking/feeling entirely different than when I first saw him. He was emaciated, skin and bones and full of fleas, ticks and these little leech-looking bugs. But what I'd like anyone who reads this to do is to imagine what life was like for him on the streets. Especially when you factor in that he has epilepsy....
He takes medicine for his epilepsy now so he doesn't get seizures anymore. But imagine living life by yourself, with 3 legs, fighting off other stray dogs who are violent and vicious, surviving off of scraps, rotten food and muddy drinking water, with fleas, ticks and leech bugs biting you and sucking your blood ALL DAY LONG...all while suffering seizures.
Yet Lucky did it. And he didn't complain. He didn't give up. Animal survival instincts or not, that's awesome. And the lesson to take away from his story is any combination of never giving up, never taking no for an answer, never stopping your quest for whatever you want in life.
Bad things happen. You just have to keep going. Like Lucky did. Everything in life is about your mindset and choices. You can choose to complain and be a victim...or you can be like Lucky and just instantly block out the bad; only focusing on moving forward.
Save this picture of him to your computer (there are tons more on Lucky's Facebook page). Print it out. Carry him with you. Let him be a constant reminder that nothing is impossible and it's always has been and always will be you who determines your happiness.
