An experienced professor, Lucy Bowditch teaches art history at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. She teaches courses on modern art, contemporary art, and the history of photography. In addition, she has taught writing intensive courses for the art department. Lucy Bowditch received a bachelor of arts in art history at Bowdoin College in 1977 and went on to obtain a doctorate at The University of Chicago in 1994.

As an art historian, Bowditch spends a lot of her time traveling worldwide to see specific works of art; most recently she visited Paris and Venice. Besides teaching, Lucy Bowditch also has run the Visiting Artist Program for the Center of Art and Design at The College of Saint Rose since 1996. This program brings distinguished professionals of the art world to campus, including artists, critics, and curators. Additionally, Dr. Bowditch is a member of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and the College Art Association (CAA). She also supports the American Alliance of Museums, which works to strengthen the museum community.
