About Me
I’m Lucy, and I used to hate country music.
My mom and dad are from Georgia, my Grandparents are from Georgia, and all of my extended family lives in Georgia. However, nobody in my family likes country. My grandmother literally dips her cornbread in buttermilk and I grew up going to actual rodeos, but my dad's favorite band in college was Smashing Pumpkins. I had a friend in highschool who was committed to making me enjoy country music. She was relentless. Every day she would make me listen to it on the way back to to her house, mind you in her jacked up Tahoe. It finally sunk in why people could stand to listen to a banjo for more than sixty seconds when I took her to the lake with my family. Something about being at the lake, drinking my favorite route 44 cherry limeade from Sonic, did I understand the appeal. Country music tells a story from beginning to end. It takes you on a journey with a conclusion rather than the same catchy verse over and over. I get the superiority complex country music fans have now, and I may have adopted it. I have gone down a Chris Stapleton rabbit hole recently, and man he can sing. My car auto plays my country playlist when I get in the car, for the record it's not a jacked Tahoe, which shows I retract everything bad I ever said about country.
