I’m the type of person who feels the texture of business cards, watches the body language during presidential debates, and asks ‘why’ ahead of all other questions. In the age where we spend more time communicating online than we do in person, it’s no wonder we feel distant, estranged, and removed. We no longer give enough credit to the intentions of everyday decisions, nor do we pay enough attention to the experiences that shape our surroundings. But if we tune in and start listening more than we speak, the world becomes more malleable to our influences and we become better equipped to handle changes in our environment. Empathy should never be over rated. I strive to integrate the human aspect into the online community. It’s not just about being ‘social’, but more about creating meaningful experiences that resonate with each user or audience. This empathetic approach to designing user experiences allows us to create longer-lasting user engagements that can outlive the life of any project.
