Luigi is a co-founder of 1000001 Labs, where he leads the research in citizen science. He is the principal investigator and coordinator of very-large projects, such as the Citclops project, a 5 M€ European project about a citizens' observatory for coast and ocean optical monitoring. He is also a member of the Knowledge Engineering and Machine Learning group (KEMLg) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC). Luigi was previously at Eurecat, where he founded and coordinated the Personalized Computational Medicine research group. And was the principal investigator and coordinator of the Synergy-COPD project, a 5 M€ European project about modeling and simulation for systems medicine. He obtained a BSc degree in Environmental Sciences; an MSc degree in Information-Technology Languages and Systems; and completed his PhD in Artificial Intelligence in 2001. Luigi is the author of more than 70 publications peer-reviewed.
