Associate Professor of Neurologic Surgery, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, and Associate Dean of Student Affairs
I am the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and former Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. I have been involved in higher education for the last 10 years, 9 of which have included active participation and leadership roles in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs across the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. I have been a biomedical researcher for the last 25 years. My research laboratory iuses neuromodulation techniques such as deep brain stimulation (DBS) and spinal cord stimulation to restore function following neural injury and disease. Specifically, I am interested in the characterization of disease mechanisms and development of new personalized therapies for movement and psychiatric disorders.
In my free time, I am a volunteer firefighter with the Byron Fire Department.
