I am an ecologist working on shallow lakes dynamics and restoration, living in Mexico City and working at the Biology Institute, UNAM. For the last ten years I have been studying the endangered situation of the Mexican Axolotl and its environment: Xochimilco in Mexico City. Recently, the fast dynamics of cities pushed me to look for the understanding how humans can live in urban areas in a sustainable way. The interaction between social behavior, economy and nature is fascinating when the goal is achieving a better life quality for most of the society.
This has been raised from the activities my daughter can do and those I used to do when I was her age, and I want a better life for her. She is the motor of my passion for sustainability. The interaction with my students always brings me new things to learn. I am a frustrated cyclist (the aggression of cars do not help to the use of it) and I love jokes, teaching, and, unfortunately, football.
