Born to immigrant parents of Chile and Yugoslavia, Luisa Martinez began her career in Manhattan, New York, beginning dance at the age of 3. She had the fortuity of moving and growing up in several states along the East Coast. After studying in Hanover, PA, and Baltimore, MD, Luisa traveled to Athens, OH where she received her B.F.A. During her education, her choreography was performed at Ohio University concerts and the American College Dance Festival. Since graduating, Luisa has found herself back in New York City where she continues to grow.

In 2010, Luisa worked with Shannon Hummel and her teaching staff at Cora Dance School in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Feeling very inspired, she has continued to pursue a career in dance education by working with children at several schools and studios. Luisa is passionate about teaching children and hopes to provide dance for them as an outlet to feel creative, unique, and accomplished.

Recently, Luisa has had the opportunity to work with Amalgamate Dance Company, Daniel Gwirtzman, Jessica Taylor of Damage Dance. In 2012 joined INSPIRIT, a dance company formed by Christal Brown.
