In his other activities, Luis Navas serves as a faculty member for The Directors College, a Canadian program that provides training that leads to the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) credential. He teaches courses in a curriculum that addresses the responsibilities of board directors as well as corporate governance. Geared toward individuals who already have served on corporate boards, the program accepts a few senior professionals who offer other experience. The classes take place at McMaster University in Toronto.
In his charitable endeavors, Luis Navas led an effort to raise $2 million for a vacation home for families that have children with autism. The father of an autistic child, Luis Navas understands the challenges families face and the difference that a vacation can make. He and his colleagues utilized the funds to purchase the house, which families can use at no cost, on Florida's Emerald Coast.
Before entering the workforce, Navas attended the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. As an undergraduate, he completed a competitive program to earn an Honours in Business Administration. He remained at the Ivey School to earn a graduate degree, as well.
