Luke John Davies

I joined the Fabian Society in 2013 having moved back to the UK after working for a left-wing thinktank in Belgrade, Serbia. Since January of this year I have been proud and privileged to have been the founder and first Chair of the Young Fabians International Network. In this role I have put members first and empowered them to run several embassy and policy events, three delegations with two others planned and also two Labour conference fringe events. I want to continue to promote members and serve them on the Executive Committee moving forward.

I would see my role, were I to be elected to the Executive, as being to facilitate and support member led projects. One of the other key aims for me will be to recast and professionalise our existing constitution to better reflect the Young Fabians 55 years on from its initial creation. As part of that I want to incorporate a mechanism for ensuring gender parity on the Executive Committee.

I will also continue to promote the Networks, I know from this year that they can be an absolutely key tool in getting more and more members actively involved. I also want to look at the possibility of geographic as well as policy area networks, to grow and support our members who, like me, don't live in London.
