Student in Athens, GA
Hello, I am Luke Lezaj. I am a student going to the University of Georgia, in Athens-Clarke county.
My life has always revolves around sports and games, whether it be with family or friends, competitive or casual. At a young age, my dad introduced his love of sports to me, playing catch in the yard, throwing the football, shooting hoops, etc. I immediately grew into the fandom, cheering on the Braves, playing recreationally. I would talk with kids at school about the big games, and would make friends through sports.
My brother always shared a passion with sports too, both of us played baseball our whole lives. When he didn’t make the high school baseball team, it made me become very timid for my tryouts the next year. I made the team, however as the four years went by and the competition was at its peak for high school sports, I started to lose passion for baseball and for sports. I would often show less effort during practices, and less passion during games.
I created my own rec baseball team with 15 of my friends called the “Silly Gooses“, to try and spark my love for the game. As I created the time many of my fellow highschool teammates wanted to join, as the competition also drained them of their desire to play. Pink striped white jerseys took the rec fields twice a week, hitting fingers and having fun doing it. The team became a highlight of every week for me and I was back to my younger selfs mind. As I moved to UGA, I had continued to play all sports recreationally and making plenty of friends the same way I always have, through sports.
