Luke M Walker

Artist, Designer, Lecturer - London. With an interest in both the built and natural environment, Luke M. Walker’s work explores the topographical and psycho-geographical relationship between nature and the city, through painting, documentation, exploration and mark-making in the landscape. In 2013 he focussed his attention on the River Thames, studying the transformative relationship between the rural and urban idyll, through walking its riverbanks and recording both its presence and his own, in the landscape. The work was expressed as a series of specific landscape paintings, archival material and site-specific interventions in the immediate locality of the riverbank. This year he has turned his attention back to the city, exploring its streets through extensive walks, interventions and paintings. Through this exploration he hopes to re-engage people with the city in new and surprising ways while still remaining within the genre of British landscape tradition.
