Lutz Ackermann
Priest and scientist in Mankweng-A, South Africa
Who am I?
Trained as a chemist in Munich (Germany) I obtained a PhD in the field of science from the same institution (TU Munich). During those years I was involved in teaching tutorials on "Higher Mathematics for Chemists" for 13 semesters.
From 2001 to 2012, as the Deputy Director of the Materials Modelling Center (University of Limpopo), I was in charge of supervising M and D students at the Unit and maintaining and developing the research environment (High Performance Computing facilities). Part of my work there was also to design suitable programmes that would help aspiring postgraduate students to successfully bridge the gap from the level reached in their undergraduate formation to what lay ahead of them on their way to Masters and PhD. This, for the first time led me to explore the possibilities of online education offers of various formats.
Since 2012 I have left the employment of the university, now working full time as a Priest in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA). But even in this environment, questions of teaching and training are never far.
Finally, since I have mentioned my activity as a language editor, I have included the link above to my website. And there are some other links, for those who want to read some theological thoughts I have shared on a (still) rather meager blog; and a mor personal profile on facebook (see links below).
