Lauren Weisenfluh
Berkeley, California, United States
A proud graduate of the University of California, Davis, I have studied ecological sciences and evolutionary biology at fascinating locations, including the Bodega Marine Laboratory (Northern California) and Monteverde Institute (Costa Rica). In pursuit of conservation incentives, I discovered public health—the ultimate incentive to take care of our planet.
As a MPH graduate in Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia, I was able to further hone this interest–from emerging infectious diseases, to how climate change is affecting public health, to the use of social media and big data to predict pandemics.
I have translated science for a wide range of audiences– as a Communicating Health and Epidemiology Fellow for the the 2×2 Project, a science communicator at the the Schoodic Education and Research Center (SERC) Institute in Acadia National Park, Maine, a published medical writer, and a contributor to a children’s book. I currently work as an analyst, translating healthcare data into actionable metrics.
