Lyndsey Kocher

Hi, I'm Lyndsey. The Homestyle Life will be a compendium of my family life with recipes, crafts, household tips, book reviews, notes on writing and social commentary. I live in Salt Lake City with Scott and Napolean, my red betta. While my two children live with me part-time, I'm a full-time Mom who shuttles them to and from football games and clarinet practice.

I'm a copywriter, which means I live to write and I write to live. My forte is social media and SEO, but I've had the opportunity to write radio programs, PR materials and I've been published a number of times in various media outlets. I've been the Scrapbook Examiner for Examiner.com and I was the staff writer at Paperkuts for the book, From Fine to Fabulous which shows readers how to take a scrapbook page from just okay to fantastic! I worked at Michael's for a stint and taught a few scrapbook classes using the Cricut machine and various scrapbook tools.

On the way, I've learned hundreds of techniques in papercrafting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlework, cake decorating, jewelry making and general crafts. I was hit with the creative bug early, influenced by my Grandmother who created beautiful Christmas decorations for the entire family. She kept a Christmas tree up in her craftroom all year long. My family is full of elementary school teachers who use creative techniques in their classrooms and have passed along their ideas through the generations. I've gotten tons of great kid-friendly crafts that encourage learning.

I received my first BA from the University of Utah in Mass Communications with a minor in English. I began getting a second degree in Psychology, minoring in Criminology a few years ago. I enjoy learning and writing about living a healthy, emotionally balanced life that includes physical fitness.

In addition, I have a small cleaning company called LBK Janitorial that specializes in office buildings. I've learned some great cleaning tips along the way and I'm stoked to share them with you.
