LYNN BURKHEAD

I'm a senior Oboe Performance major at the University of Illinois. I've always had a deep connection to all aspects of the music world. More recently, I've been exploring my long-standing passion for music history. Come next fall, I will be persuing a master's degree in Musicology with concentrations in American music as well as the roles of race, gender, and sexuality in music history. I hope to become a Musicology professor and freelance musician in the city that I love--New York. One project I would be interested in developing is a classical instrumental teaching pedagogy more similar to that of jazz musicians (outside of technical aspects). Another project of interest to me is developing various music history course curicculums that specifically cover the work of LGBT, minority, and female composers.
