Lynne McAdam

UK based but more than happy to work abroad

Lynne trained at Trinity Laban and then at the Royal College of Music International Opera School, where she was twice winner of the Ricordi Opera Prize, before embarking on her professional career as an operatic soloist. A singer of considerable stage experience, Lynne has worked in repertory theatre, cabaret, and the main concert halls, as well as with all the major British touring opera companies, English National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and Almeida Opera.

Principal roles have included Third Witch (MacBeth) for Birmingham Opera Company; Meg Page (Falstaff) and Dorabella (Cosi fan Tutte) for English Touring Opera; Third Lady (Magic Flute) for Mid-Wales Opera; Marcellina (Marriage of Figaro), for Stowe Opera. Lynne has also played principle roles in ‘rep’ at Newcastle, Ipswich, and Hornchurch, including the Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd), and The Baker’s Wife (Into the Woods) and performed in cabaret, most notably in Weill & Brecht in Harmony for Jigsaw Opera Company.

Further afield, after singing Carmen in Government House, Hong Kong and touring the USA with London City Opera, Lynne performed the title roles of Carmen, and Dorabella (Cosi fan Tutte), in Japan and around Europe with Pavilion Opera, and was subsequently invited to sing on the QE2, where she performed a series of classical concerts on both their Transatlantic and Caribbean cruises. More recently, Lynne performed Zefka in the Janacek opera The Diary of One who Disappeared (in Czech) at the Carnoules Opera Festival in France as well as appearing as a soloist in opera gala concerts for two summer concert seasons at the Chiostro di San Francesco in Sorrento.

Most recently, Lynne has released a recording of Janacek’s The Diary of One who Disappeared in Czech, and has performed the roles of Frugola (Il Tabarro) and Siegrune (Die Walkure) for Midsummer Opera for whom she will sing the role of Emilia (Otello) in the autumn.

Throughout her career, Lynne has also given private singing lessons to both classical and music theatre singers, and run opera and drama workshops for the various companies with whom she has sung. She also works as a free-lance Early Years music practitioner.

Currently, Lynne is preparing a recital for a tour of the North East and planning a series of concerts for the charity Music in Hospitals.
